Here's what Mae likes to do most: hide. Most
reptiles feel safest when they are able to feel their environments around
them. That's why snakes like gopher holes, aquatic turtles run for
the water when somethings approaches them, and box turtles bury themselves.
Mae likes to dig herself in near her undertank heat source. But
she also keeps her head up in case an unsuspecting worm "happens" to pass
her by. The photos below show her color patterns. Now that I'm
keeping her in Aspen shavings, her shell and skin stay much cleaner. She's
very pretty for her age. |
